چکیده

Introduction: Association between plasma high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (CRP) concentrations and cardiovascular disease has been Investigated. C-reactive protein (CRP) is an acute phase reactant which is a marker of inflammation in the body. CRP is made by the liver in response to inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNFα). Adipose tissue is a major source of these inflammatory cytokines. The purpose of this study was, to examine differences in high-sensitivity Creactive protein (hs-CRP) levels and body fatness. Methods: A total of 260 adult healthy men and women were investigated in 2014. Body mass index (BMI) was measured for each participant. Blood samples were collected and CRP measurements were performed in the laboratory. Plasma CRP levels were measured by means of a colorimetric competitive ELISA. Data are expressed as mean±SD values. Relationship between obesity and CRP was analyzed by SPSS 20, and tested using χ-test and logistic regression analysis. Results: Subjects with elevated CRP had higher BMI and WC. For elevated CRP, subjects in the highest BMI quartile with subjects in the lowest BMI quartile. The result shows a relationship between CRP with BMI throughout the BMI spectrum. CRP levels were strongly correlated with BMI (P=0.0002).Levels of CRP also increased steadily across WC quartiles (P=0.0001). Waist circumference quartiles were also strongly associated with odds of elevated CRP. Women in the highest WC (91cm) and men in the highest WC (89cm) had an odd of elevated CRP. Conclusion: Development and implementation of a global health strategy for prevention and control of non-communicable diseasesin recommended.

The association between inflammatory markers and obesity-related factors in Tehranian adults: Tehran lipid and glucose study

Objective(s):Obesity considered being a low-grade inflammatory disease. The objective of this study was to examine the association between inflammatory markers (IM) including C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), Interleukin-6 (IL-6), and homocystein (Hcy) and obesity[F1] -related factors (e.g. BMI, waist, hip) in adult participants of Tehran lipid and glucose study (TLGS). Materials and Methods: In thi...

P99: The Role of C- Reactive Protein in Obesity and Neuropathic Diseases

Acute phase C-reactive protein (CRP), raised in obesity and inflammation, is a main binding protein for leptin. It is assumed that CRP contributes to leptin confrontation by preventing leptin from crossing the blood-brain barrier (BBB). Here we defined how CRP cooperates with the BBB and whether it deters leptin from attainment CNS targets. CRP was constant in blood, but did not permeate the BB...

Effects of Zinc Supplementation on the Anthropometric Measurements, Leptin, Ghrelin and C-reactive protein in the Obese Adults with Increased Appetite and Baseline Zinc Deficiency: A Randomized Controlled Trial

Background: Appetite is one of the main obesity-controlling factors that can be influenced by hormones, including leptin and ghrelin. This study aimed to determine the effects of zinc supplementation on the serum levels of leptin, ghrelin, C-reactive protein (CRP), and anthropometrical indices in obese individuals with increased appetite and zinc deficiency. Methods: This study was conducted a...

Relationship between High-Density Lipoprotein and C-reactive Protein in Patients with Atherosclerosis

Abstract Background and Objective: Atherosclerosis is an inflammatory disease mostly caused by oxidation of low density lipoproteins (LDLs) while High-density lipoproteins (HDLs) oppose atherosclerosis by inhibiting the oxidation of LDLs. Serum concentration of C- reactive protein (CRP) also increases as an acute phase protein in inflammatory conditions like atherosclerosis. We aimed to evalu...

Relationship between C-reactive protein (CRP) and lymphopenia with disease severity in hospitalized patients with Covid-19 in Yasuj city in 2020

Introduction: Due to the high prevalence of Covid-19 disease and limited treatment capacity, rapid identification of factors indicating the severity of the disease can be very helpful. It is predicted that positive CRP along with lymphopenia is related to the severity of Covid-19 infection. Objective: The present study was conducted with the aim of investigating the relationship between C-react...
